Giuliani A Good Move

Giuliani A Good Move says legal analyst Karen Desoto. The former prosecutor joined MSNBC Anchor Richard Lui and panel to discuss Cohen’s willingness to “flip” on the president.

President Trump’s long-time lawyer and “fixer” Michael Cohen, faces possible criminal charges after the raids of his office, home and hotel room by the F.B.I. They obtained a warrant for the search based on evidence that Mr. Cohen may have engaged in money laundering, compaign finance volations, and other charges.

Mr. Cohen has long said “I’d take a bullet for DOnald Trump.” Yet there is speculation that facing still jail time the lawyer may flip on the president and cooperate with prosecutors. President Trump called the raid “disgraceful” and maintains that Cohen is loyal to him and won’t flip. Others, including members of his inner circle aren’t so sure.

In an interview with CNN last week, Cohen called the raid “unsettling to say the least.” But he also said in the same interview that the federal agents were “extremely professional, courteous and respectful” — a dramatic departure from his usual combative style.

In a Politico article, “That’s what they’ll threaten him with: life imprisonment,” said Alan Dershowitz, the liberal lawyer and frequent Trump defender who met with the president and his staff over two days at the White House last week. “They’re going to threaten him with a long prison term and try to turn him into a canary that sings.”

Karen DeSoto, an NBC legal analyst and former prosecutor weighed in on the appointment of Rudolph Giuliani  by President Trump to help expedite the several investigations swirling around the president.

NY1’s Grace Rauh believes he will and former GOP counsel, Sophie Nelson, thinks there is no reason for Cohen not to, since the president has “no loyalty to anyone or anything but himself.”
