Humanitarian of the Year Award

Karen Desoto

Karen Desot0 – Legal Analyst

Humanitarian of the Year award, by the City of Bayonne Youth Center, was awarded to Karen Desoto in recognition of her priceless charitable contributions.

Karen Desoto is an attorney at law who founded and operates the Center for Legal Justice, located in journal Square, Jersey City. Receiving the humanitarian of the year award she said “was so overwhelming; it was nice to be recognized but I share this with so many others out there helping out along side me.”

She earned a Juris Doctorate in Law from Temple University before beginning her legal career. Long before she was ever considered for the humanitarian of the year award, her career has included serving as a public defender, prosecutor, and the corporate counsel for the city of Jersey City, New Jersey.

In private practice Karen is focused on cases involving employment discrimination, civil rights, criminal defense, and election law. She is noted for taking on a large percentage of pro-bono cases.

Karen Desoto has had a duel career. In addition to her legal career, she has also been an on-air legal analyst for national television and radio shows, including COURT TV, MSNBC, Fox News, CNN Headline News, and The TODAY show.
