Karen DeSoto Launched Karen DeSoto.org

Karen DeSoto launched KarenDeSoto.org as a way to segregate her work as a legal analysts on NBC News with her contributions in community activism.

Karen DeSoto’s career is broad and deep. Throughout her professional career she has served as a prosecutor, public defender, and  lawyer in private practice, founding the Center for Legal Justice, and rising to the position of Corporate Counsel for the city of Jersey City in 2001. She was appointed to that position by the then mayor of Jersey City (the late Glenn D. Cunningham) who later went on to become a Senator.  In her role as Corporate Counsel she advised nine department directors on all legal matters, while managing the large legal department for the city.

In 2013 she joined the staff of New Jersey City University as a professor in the political science department, and later helped launch the Institute for Conflict Resolution in the business school, serving as co-Director.

She served as an adjunct Professor at Farleigh Dickinson University before that. Professor DeSoto earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at Rutgers University; subsequently earning a Juris Doctorate and Masters of Laws in trial advocacy from Temple University.

Karen DeSoto has also been an on-air legal analyst, since 2000, appearing on NBC News, MSNBC, ABC News, CNN Headline News, and Fox News, among others.

But in addition to her full professional agenda, Karen has also been very engaged in her community, working with many organizations there. KarenDeSoto.org was launched as a platform to post activities in New Jersey, as well as he own achievements and involvements.
